What fall league is
Fall league is WUDi's semi-competitive season. It's shorter and faster than summer — 5v5 on turf, two games a night, ten Thursday nights start to finish. The pace is quicker and the games are tighter, but the league stays what it has always been: players of all levels are welcome. If you've never played a fall season, this is a good one to start with.
Signing up
You register as an individual, not as a team. Captains draft the rosters once registration closes, so you don't need to arrive with a group — sign yourself up and you'll be placed.
A note on timing: registration opening at 8:00 PM isn't arbitrary. Spots fill, and the earlier you're in, the better your odds of getting one. If you're planning to play but tend to sign up in the final week, consider making this the year you don't — registering early helps the coordinators build balanced teams, and it guarantees you a spot before the deadline sneaks up.
What to bring: cleats or turf shoes, plus a light shirt and a dark shirt.

Summer League Re-cap Coed Division

Westchester Ultimate Disc closed out its 2026 Summer League in early August, capping ten weeks of Coed Draft play across six teams. Teams took the field under a space theme this year, and from the first pull in late May through the final weekend the division delivered exactly what draft league is supposed to deliver: rosters nobody could have predicted in April, a standings sheet that refused to settle, and a lot of people staying on the field long after the last point.
Purple Planet Eaters take the Coed Draft title
When it was over, it was the Purple Planet Eaters — captained by Alex Solomon and Sophie Stahl — holding the Coed Draft championship. They earned every bit of it. The final was played in the rain against the Red Rockets, captained by Jacob “Roofus” Margolis and Matt Leventhal, and it was a back-and-forth battle from the opening pull. Purple built a lead; Red clawed it back. Neither side could put the other away.
It came down to universe point. What followed was the kind of sequence that rain and pressure produce — the disc changed hands again and again, both teams within one throw of the title and neither able to close it — until Purple finally converted for a 15–14 win.
Season awards
Alongside the title, the division recognized four players for what they brought across the whole summer — two for how they played, and two for how they played the game.
Most Valuable Players
- DOM MVP — Jordan Acker, Purple Planet Eaters
- DOW MVP — Meta Learey, Dark Matter
Spirit Award Winners
Spirit of the Game is the part of ultimate that doesn't show up in a box score — the self-officiating, the calls made honestly against your own interest, the tone a player sets for everyone else on the field. This year the league's answer was, fittingly, the two captains who had just spent a rainy evening playing each other to universe point.
- DOW Spirit Award — Sophie Stahl, co-captain, Purple Planet Eaters
- DOM Spirit Award — Jacob “Roofus” Margolis, co-captain, Red Rockets
A championship game that tight, decided by that many turnovers, in that weather, is exactly where spirit gets tested. That both captains came out of it holding this award says as much about the final as the score does.
A season built by the whole league
None of this happens on its own. Enormous thanks to coordinators Eric “Niemo” Niemeyer and Mike Ciancimino, who recruited captains, ran the draft, and then spent the rest of the summer keeping the whole thing upright — chasing down subs whenever a team was short, sorting jerseys and discs, and hosting grill nights alongside the board. This league does not run without them.
Thanks as well to the captains, who take on more of the season than most players see. They set the fields, build the rosters on draft night, and email their teams before every game with a plan. That's a standing weekly commitment on top of actually playing, and the league would not function without it.
Off the field, Wednesdays belonged to the grill. Every team took a turn hosting a grill night through the season, with the board covering the rest.
A first for WUDi: Youth League
This summer also brought something new. WUDi ran its first-ever Youth League in the hours before evening games, made possible entirely by the volunteers who stepped up to organize and coach it.
Congratulations to the Purple Planet Eaters, to Jordan, Meta, Sophie, and Roofus, and to every captain, coordinator, volunteer, and player who made the 2026 summer season what it was.
Next up: Fall League
Fall League begins October 8, with registration closing October 2. If summer left you wanting more, that's the next chance to get back on the field.
